> Where Copilot shows up in Microsoft Forms, the license it needs, and what Microsoft says about turning it off. Plus what your admin can change.

Short answer: Microsoft's Copilot in Forms FAQ and its Forms admin page name no Forms-only switch for Copilot. Microsoft's Copilot in Forms FAQ says "a valid Microsoft Copilot license is required to use the Copilot in Forms feature," and it does not describe a way to turn the feature off. The Forms admin settings page lists other controls, and none of them is named for Copilot.

## What Copilot does in Forms

Microsoft's FAQ says Copilot gives AI-powered help "helping them draft, review, send, monitor progress, and analyze their results." The page names these places where it shows up:

- Draft with Copilot, which builds a form from a plain-language prompt.
- A prompt box at the top of the form.
- Rewrite with Copilot and Add with Copilot, on the form canvas.
- Answer Explanations, for quizzes.
- Boost response, for drafting invitations and tracking responses.

If you see one of these buttons and you did not ask for it, that is Copilot. It is part of the Forms screen for people whose account has an eligible Copilot license.

## What it needs

The FAQ states the requirement in one line: a valid Microsoft Copilot license. That is the only requirement the page gives. If a coworker sees the buttons and you do not, the license is the first thing to compare. Your admin can see who has one.

## Can you turn it off yourself?

The FAQ names no switch. The only privacy step it describes is deleting your Copilot interaction history through your Microsoft account privacy settings. It says Copilot in Forms data is removed along with Copilot data from other Microsoft 365 apps.

So for a single person, my answer is: the page names no way to hide the buttons. You can leave them alone.

## What your admin can change

Ask your admin. The steps below are for them. Exact names may differ on your screen.

1. Sign in to [https://admin.microsoft.com](https://admin.microsoft.com) with a work or school account.
2. Select Settings, then Org settings.
3. On the Services tab, select Microsoft Forms.
4. Review the settings on the Microsoft Forms pane.

Microsoft's admin page lists these Forms settings: External sharing, Record names by default, Internal phishing protection, and Include Bing search, YouTube videos. The page also says "Administrator settings are only available for Office 365 Education and Microsoft 365 Apps for business customers."

None of those settings is for Copilot. The page also describes turning Microsoft Forms off for a user, and says the Forms tile is then hidden. That removes Forms, not only Copilot, so I would not use it for this.

Our advice, not a Microsoft rule: the FAQ ties Copilot in Forms to a Copilot license, so ask your admin whether the Copilot license can be removed from the people who do not want it.

## If your goal is a clean form

You do not need to turn Copilot off to build a form without it. Open a new form, ignore the Draft with Copilot box, and add questions yourself with the Add new button. Our advice, not a Microsoft rule: if a coworker keeps clicking the Copilot buttons and changing questions, set who can edit with Share to collaborate, and see "[Let coworkers edit your Microsoft Form](/guides/microsoft-forms-share-to-collaborate/)".

For the next step after your form is built, see "[Send Microsoft Forms responses to a SharePoint list](/guides/microsoft-forms-to-sharepoint-list/)".

## When to get help

You can build all of this yourself in Microsoft 365. If you would rather have it built and tested for your team, I do that. A tracker like this is a fixed price: \$5,000 for one, built in 2 weeks. See "[What a SharePoint tracker costs to build](/guides/what-a-sharepoint-tracker-costs/)". Bring one example of the problem to a free call.

I am Al Davies. I run 250 High Street LLC and build SharePoint trackers and Power Automate flows for operations teams. I work remotely. The first call is free, and I will not try to sell you anything.
